"Will was a patient teacher and he would take the time to explain things until I really understood what I needed to do."

Will is our banjo making instructor and he operates Fielding Banjos in Marlboro, VT.

He began his professional woodworking career learning the art of guitar building from Augie LoPrinzi. While working there he began repairing old banjos and started developing an understanding of what makes each banjo have it's unique sound.

Will taught woodworking at Solebury School, a private high school in Pennsylvania, before moving to Vermont to study furniture building with Gib Taylor at Marlboro College. He made his first complete banjo at Marlboro and graduated with honors in 1979.

Since then Will has enjoyed an eclectic woodworking career doing custom cabinetry, building custom furniture, making stringed instruments and drums, and completing custom designed home renovations. He started Fielding Banjos in 2001 and has since built about 100 banjos. He now makes about 20 banjos a year and each one is a unique and beautiful work of art.

Feel free to contact Will directly and make sure to check out his website.
